About Us

At required viewing we are committed to helping clients fully realize their publicity and marketing goals. With a strong belief in the value of each project, a clear understanding of the audience, and a willingness to take risks, required viewing advocates for your film and the recognition it deserves. We bring a passion and love for cinema to every aspect of our campaigns.

 

Each project has its own identity. Our objective is to create a singular, personalized approach for each client.

Steven Raphael

With over 30 years in the film industry, Raphael has been passionately devoted to bringing quality U.S. and International films to the marketplace. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Public Relations branch) and a voting member of the Academy’s International Feature Film Committee. Prior to founding required viewing, Raphael was Senior Vice president of Acquisitions and Co-productions at USA Films (now Focus Features). During that period, he was involved in the theatrical campaigns for BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, GOSFORD PARK, and TRAFFIC. At USA, Raphael was responsible for acquiring and co-financing Mira Nair’s MONSOON WEDDING, Todd Haynes’ FAR FROM HEAVEN, Francois Ozone’s 8 WOMEN, the Dardenne Brothers’ ROSETTA,) and Wong Kar Wai’s IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE. Prior to USA FILMS, Raphael was Sr. Vice President of Publicity and Marketing at Gramercy Pictures/PolyGram where he was responsible for the National Campaigns on FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, DEAD MAN WALKING, ELIZABETH, FARGO, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, SHALLOW GRAVE, BOUND, THE BIG LEBOWSKI and COLD COMFORT FARM. Raphael is a past board member of the Film Independent (FIND), OUTFEST, THE DRAMA DEPT, the IFP Advisory Committee, and NEWFEST. He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Raphael is currently an Adjunct Professor of Film Marketing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He resides in New York with his dog daughter Ruth.

Denise Sinelov

Denise Sinelov joined required viewing in March 2011 and is responsible for all elements of publicity and marketing. Most notably, Denise was an integral part of the campaigns for Academy Award nominees POOR THINGS, PERFECT DAYS, THE QUIET GIRL, THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD, QUO VADIS, AIDA?, ON BODY AND SOUL, THEEB, MOMMY, OMAR, Cannes Un Certain Regard Jury Prize winner and Independent Spirit Award winner JOYLAND, among many others. Prior to required viewing, Denise held positions at Magnolia Pictures and IFP. She is a multi-lingual born and raised New Yorker who has always had a love for international cinema and still remembers her first time watching Cyrano de Bergerac as a preschooler. Denise is a graduate of SUNY Purchase.
